Supporters who have left a gift in their will have been essential to Prisoners Abroad’s work in the past. A gift left in your will would be just as important to this work in the future.
It’s likely that in decades to come the prison conditions in some countries around the world will actually get worse; meaning our help will be needed more than ever. Leaving a gift in your will gives you the chance to ensure that Prisoners Abroad will be able to reach the people that will doubtlessly need our help in the future.
You don’t need to be wealthy to leave a legacy. Planning for a gift in your will can cost you nothing now, but it can make a significant difference to people’s lives in future. Having provided for your family in your will, you can also do something amazing by leaving a gift to Prisoners Abroad.
We now have a legacy information leaflet available to download in PDF format that explains leaving a gift in your will in more detail.
We can also send you a copy in the post. Please contact us on 020 7561 6820 or email legacy@prisonersabroad.org.uk.
Here are some examples of how the money you leave in your legacy could help Britons imprisoned overseas.
£1,000 could fund all of the food grants and advice services needed by someone serving the final year of their sentence in a developing country, and help them to find housing and work on their return home.
£5,000 could help run our work with families for a whole year; including keeping prisoners and their families in touch by post and liaising with prisons and judicial administrations to arrange visits.
£25,000 could provide food and other essentials to help ensure the survival all of the prisoners held in the harshest conditions in a developing country for ten years.
