Toby was originally a service user of Prisoners Abroad, serving a 10 year sentence in the USA for firearms possession. The advice and support that he received from Prisoners Abroad was instrumental in securing his passport, which allowed for his deportation in a timely manner. He was deported back to the UK in April 2016, relying on Prisoners Abroad to get immediate help with food, travel, shelter and benefits.

After returning and accessing support, Toby took classes and volunteered at Crisis, studied for his NVQ Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance and worked as an employment support keyworker with St. Giles Trust, helping people with their individual needs and supporting them to get back into work.

In 2018 Toby began his degree in Business Management at Bloomsbury Institute (formerly London School of Business Management), has been elected as a Student Trustee, involved with the University Business Society and is planning on starting a Social Enterprise in the coming years. Toby is also a Longford Trust Scholar and has worked alongside his studies in various jobs.
