Adrian Bailey has won Advisor of the Year at the ERSA Employability Awards 2017!

In 2012, in collaboration with our Resettlement Team, Adrian began volunteering delivering workshops to help ex-prisoners prepare for employment. The Work Preparation Programme aims to increase employment by developing CV and IT skills, advice and guidance on how to disclose convictions, and encouraging training and volunteering as a pathway into employment. Adrian’s personal experience of imprisonment enables him to reach individuals in a very effective way; he adopts a person centred approach and has a deep understanding of the trauma and exclusion ex-prisoners face. Adrian recognises transferrable skills   and builds confidence to improve employment opportunities.

Not only does Adrian use his expertise for the Work Preparation Programme, but he also supports the wider organisation. He looks for opportunities to support ex-prisoners into employment and he demonstrates this by attending the Prisoners Abroad Resettlement Support Groups (peer-to peer support meetings) each month.  He seeks to remind people of the skills they possess and how to enhance employment opportunities at every stage of their resettlement.

Of the clients who participated in the 2015-16 Work Preparation Programme:

• 68% of participants said they felt more positive about applying for jobs and therefore more ready to engage with the process of finding work.
• 72% of participants said they felt more confident completing job applications.

Adrian plays a huge role in transforming people’s lives.
