Are you interested in human rights and social justice? Do you want to gain hands-on fundraising and research skills in the NGO sector?

Prisoners Abroad is excited to present this outstanding Volunteer Internship opportunity.

We are a human rights and welfare charity providing humanitarian aid, expert advice and emotional support to people affected by overseas imprisonment and resettlement support when they return to the UK. Prisoners Abroad translates human rights law into practical life-saving actions by providing prisoners with access to vitamins and essential food, emergency medical care, books and magazines to help sustain mental and physical health. We also support their families through what can be a very traumatic time.

Our Trust Fundraising Volunteer Internship will give you those sought-after skills employers look for and make you stand out in applications. You will work within the Fundraising & Communications team, capitalising on new opportunities and maximising donations, which make up a significant part of the overall income at Prisoners Abroad. You will undertake prospect research, ensuring that relevant updates are monitored and a variety of searches carried out. You will have a portfolio of small trusts to work on, including sending updates, reports and appeals. Finally, after receiving training, you will be a database contact within the trusts team. The ideal candidate will be organised, IT literate, have an eye for detail and strong writing skills. It is also essential that you are committed to the aims of Prisoners Abroad.

We can host Volunteer Interns in our office for a minimum period of 12 weeks (but longer ideally) for 1 to 2 days per week. We cannot pay a salary, but we can pay expenses (for lunch up to £7 per working day) plus travel within London.
