Leaving a gift in your will is a great way to continue your support of Prisoners Abroad long into the future. In doing so, you can help us ensure that British people detained overseas, when they return to the UK, and their families are taken care of in the years to come.

When it comes to writing your will it's completely understandable that you will want to look after your loved ones first. But once those closest to you have been provided for, you might consider leaving something to Prisoners Abroad too.

Gifts left in a will don't have to be large amounts; they come in all shapes and sizes - with gifts ranging from £100 to £20,000, from 1% of an estate to 100%, or anything left over after your family have been provided for. They don’t even have to be money – some people choose to leave an item of value to their chosen charity. It is completely up to you. Whatever you choose to leave, your donation will help us continue to reach the people who need us most in the future.

Sir Martin Berthoud is a long-standing supporter and has decided that he would like to leave a gift in his will to ensure his support lives on.

“I believe so strongly that PA do magnificent work, I have done as much as I could to help them while still going strong. I know that they will continue to need help and it makes me happy to think that my contribution will continue after my death.”

If the whole thing seems a little daunting right now, don't worry - making a will is actually a lot easier and more affordable than you may think. We have some useful guides and forms to get you started:

If you would like to discuss leaving a gift to us in your will, please feel free to call our team who would be more than happy to speak with you and answer any questions that you might have.

Solicitors are vital for making sure your Will is written correctly. If you don't have a solicitor you can find a list of local solicitors in your areas by visiting the Law Society website. But please shop around until you find a solicitor you are happy with.

If you already have a Will then it's even easier to leave a gift to Prisoners Abroad. It's simply a matter of adding in a small clause using a form called a Codicil.
