The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is currently in the process of talking to leadership figures from across the nation in an attempt to understand this universal trait and what it means in Britain and Northern Ireland today.

Pauline Crowe OBE, Prisoners Abroad's Chief Executive was invited onto an episode of the podcast, which also included an interview with Lord Blunkett. Host Scott Challinor asked both guests a series of questions about leadership and the role it has played in their careers to date.

Scott Challinor commented, ‘Hosting a show like this, where you speak to genuine leaders who have been there and done it, either on a national stage or within a crucial industry sector, is an absolute honour.’

An exerpt from Pauline: 'For me as a leader I've put a lot of time into communicating with people - staying in individual contact with everyone in my team, and with my Trustee board - to make sure they are completely in touch with what has been going on. It has also been about communicating with our fantastic donors because we need them to keep giving and we want to let them know what we are achieving with their money, because quite simply we couldn't do this work without them.

'I would like to think it has made us stronger as an industry but we'll have to see how it plays out over the coming months. For Prisoners Abroad we already have a lot of flexible working to ensure we retain such a fantastic team. We also know that our service users need the face-to-face contact work which means we will have to get back to former patterns of working as well, but it's finding that balance and moving that forward over the coming year - we will feel ourselves along very gently.'

Lord Blunkett, chairman of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said, ‘I think the most informative element of each episode is the first part, where Scott Challinor is able to sit down with someone who really gets how their industry works and knows how to make their organisation tick. Someone who’s there day in day out working hard and inspiring others. That’s what leadership is all about.’
