News and Media News stories Prisoners Abroad patron Jon Snow: new documentary PRESS RELEASE On Saturday evening, Channel 4 broadcast a feature-length documentary featuring Prisoners Abroad patron Jon Snow. Produced in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, the documentary, Jon Snow: A Last Big Story, follows Jon in the aftermath of his Alzheimer’s diagnosis as he returns to his journalistic roots in a bid to come to terms with the disease’s impact. What began as a documentary highlighting Jon’s diagnosis – also featuring his wife Dr Precious Lunga – developed into a powerful expose of a mining disaster covered up by officials, decimating the land and water of a Zambian community. In over 30 years as a Channel 4 broadcaster, Jon has reported on countless other hard-hitting cases – including those concerning prisoners’ rights and those detained overseas. Alongside representing us as a patron, Jon is also a patron of Reprieve and has previously chaired the Prison Reform Trust and New Horizon Youth Centre, a London day centre for homeless and vulnerable teenagers. Jon has been a great supporter of the work of Prisoners Abroad for over 20 years and our thoughts are with him, his wife Precious, and his family as they navigate this time.
