Family support groups offer a safe, non-judgmental space for you and other family members to talk about any problems you may be facing as a result of your relative’s imprisonment. They are run by a local experienced Prisoners Abroad volunteer.

You will be assured of a friendly welcome and the opportunity to talk to others in a supportive and confidential environment.  When you come along, the only information that we ask you share with others is your first name. You can ask questions, talk to others or listen to other people's experiences.

Until further, unless otherwise stated, all groups are run virtually via Zoom.

Family Support and Information Meetings:

We hold virtual meetings on themes or countries  for family members.  You can meet to share information, support each other or receive guidance from a Prisoners Abroad member of staff. Most of these meetings are attended Consular staff from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

Planned meetings

June 23rd : France

July 21st:   Preparation for Release

Please call us on 020 7561 6820 / freephone 0808 172 0098 or email [email protected] if you would like to receive an invitation to one of the meetings, or if you would like more information about them.

People who have attended a family Zoom support group have said:

As we can't meet up at the moment I think using Zoom is a very good  way for everyone to still see each other and to be able to ask questions or just be reassured that there are other people in the same situation.

Having the video option is lovely when people are comfortable to be on it, because the face to face interaction is really nice. Joining from the ease of home made me feel really comfortable to talk and share openly too.
